Members of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) have elected a new team of experienced communication professionals to run the affairs of the Nigerian chapter with Mr Chido Nwakanma re-elected as President.

The new directors are Nkem Jacob, Administration; Abiodun Olaniyi, Communication; Ify Ossai, Membership; Temitope Oguntokun, Sponsorship; and Dan Daniel, Finance.

To enhance its reach across the country, IABC Nigeria for the first time also elected directors to coordinate affairs in critical regions of the country with growing membership. The regional directors are Dan Daniel, South South; Vivian Idefepo, North Central; and Daniel Okereke, North East.

Nkem Jacob, who is Manager, Corporate Communications & Marketing with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), has over 23 years experience in media, public relations, marketing and business communication consulting. He holds a B.Sc. in Marketing from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) and an M.Sc. in Media & Communication from Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. He also attended the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, where he bagged an M.Sc. in Marketing & Public Relations.

Temitope Oguntokun works with Lafarge Africa Plc (a member of the LafargeHolcim group) as the Corporate Brand and Sustainability Manager. She was previously the Head of Communications for the company’s subsidiary, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc. Oguntokun holds an MA in Media, Communications & PR from the University of Leicester and is also an alumnus of the Lagos State University (PGD, Communication Studies) and The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she read Mass Communication (HND).

Vivian Idepefo is a television broadcaster and experienced producer with the Nigerian Television Authority. She has worked on various desks, including Business and Finance. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.

Dan Daniel manages the Social Investment Strategy of Nigeria LNG Limited. Daniel holds an MBA from the Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland, and Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Biomedical Science of the University of Queensland, Australia.

Ify Ossai currently oversees country operations of a Pan-African NGO. Her work experience spans Investment Management, Compliance and Financial Services. She holds an MBA of the University of Houston, Clear Lake, Texas, and Bachelors in Finance and Economics from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville – both in the USA.

Regional Director North East Daniel Okereke is Director of Communication at the American University of Nigeria, Yola. He holds degrees in Public Administration and Mass Communication.

Nwakanma is a communication and marketer strategist of 30 years standing with exposure and practice in Nigeria and Africa. He holds double masters degrees in Media & Communication as well as Industrial Sociology and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication. He schooled at the Pan Atlantic University, University of Lagos and the University of Nigeria. Nwakanma has also been a president of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria (PRCAN).
