Dasuki, EFCC trade words over alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it will not join words with the embattled National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki over allegations that the EFCC is subjecting him to media trial and as such he may not get fair hearing from the court.

The Spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, told Channels Television on Monday evening that Colonel Dasuki has been arraigned in court, so it would be baseless replying his allegations.

Dasuki, in his statement of witness, had said that clearly all funds which the EFCC has made reference to, amounting to $2.1 billion were approvals from the Office of the President to him as National Security Adviser (NSA).

He said that the 10 billion naira given to the PDP was for the national convention as ordered by the president and that he did not have any slush fund operated in his personal capacity as the NSA.

Col. Dasuki said that he is being vilified by the EFCC when he obviously acted on the instructions and approvals of the president.

The EFCC on Monday arraigned Dasuki and four others before Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on a 19-count charge bordering on money laundering and criminal breach of trust to the tune of N13,570, 000,000.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read to them.

Justice Baba-Yusuf adjourned the case to Tuesday, December 15, for hearing on bail applications. (Channels TV/News Express)
