Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has restated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the families of fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in the course of defending the nation.
Governor Amosun who stated this, on Monday, when he was decorated with the emblem of the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration by the Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Sunday Tosin Oshunsi, said the importance of remembering departed heroes who fought for the peace of the country cannot be over-emphasised.
The Ogun State Governor, who donated the sum of N1m to the Legion, called on well meaning Nigerians to show regular commitment to the families of the fallen heroes through their gifts and monetary donations.
He added that his administration will continue to do everything within its power to see that the families left behind by Nigeria’s fallen heroes are well taken care of.
“We all know the importance of remembering our departed heroes because they fought and laid their lives for what we are enjoying today. We will continue to do everything within our power to see that the families they left behind are catered for.
“As a government, we will remain committed to the Legion and we would continue to celebrate those who fought for the peace and unity of the nation. It would not be out of place if well meaning Nigerians on a regular basis show commitment to the families of the fallen heroes as well as the living ones,” Amosun said.
Speaking with newsmen, Mr Oshunsi, commended Governor Amosun for his unwavering care and commitment to the Legion and families of fallen heroes, disclosing that the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration would be better than the previous ones.
