Regular sex prevents prostate cancer – Medical Expert

Regular sex can help to prevent prostate cancer, a medical expert has disclosed.

Dr. Ruth Anyanwu Uzomah, MD/CEO of Port Harcourt-based Holistic Consult, made this known in a lecture she delivered to senior police officers in Abuja.

The lecture, held Thursday (August 9) at the Conference Hall of the FCT Abuja Police headquarters, had topic, ‘The Healthy Prostate: Risk Factors, Prevention and Management.’

The risk factors Dr. Uzomah mentioned include high fat foods, age, lack of exercise, refined sugar and white flour, too much caffeine and eating of red meat.

She also identified accumulation of sperm as a risk factor, saying: “As such, there is need to for men to engage in regular sex, as a way to let the accumulated sperm to go out.”

Dr. Uzomah however pointed out that as humans we cannot control all the risk factors. “But one can go a long way to reduce the risk by bolstering one’s immune system. Things like drinking at least three litres of water everyday, exercising regularly and getting at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night can also help,” she said.

Transport & Business Express reports that prostate cancer, which afflicts men over the age of fifty, is a form of cancer that develops in the prostate, a gland in the male reproductive system. The symptons include pain, difficulty in urinating, problems during sexual intercourse, or erectile dysfunction.
