Kcee and Ollie Gee
By IFECHI OKOH
He was once the poster boy of Igbocentric hip/ragga musical hub, and he held it down tightly for many years with endearing and enduring songs like “Daddy Mooh”, “Felenfe”, “Emesia Emesia”, “Onye Iwe”, “African Gbedu” and a host of other scintillating songs, mostly rendered in an intricately patterned mixture of Igbo and English languages.
The songs “Daddy Mooh” and “Emesia Emesia” which were released in 1999/2000 and 2002, respectively, attained the enviable status of quasi-national anthems, especially amongst the Igbo-speaking people of Nigeria, both at home and in the diaspora. The songs and the artistes succeeded in inspiring a host of new wave of Igbocentric artistes who later became big names on their own.
After a well deserved hiatus, the immensely talented Umuagu-Inyi, Enugu State-born crooner also addressed as “Nwa Guy” by his numerous fans and acolytes are back again with a bang! Or should we say a bigger banger?
This time, Ollie Gee is teaming up with the undeniably successful heavy hitters of 5-Star music label, as the Lagos stationed wave making record label drops his latest andsumptuous musical offering, alongside their Numero Uno hit maker, Kcee, aptly titled “Mummy Mooh”, and old wine in a new keg with all the necessary condiments, reminiscent of his record Ollie Gee’s smashing first outing at the dawn of the century.
The single “Mummy Mooh” push out, which was officially released on the 5-Star music label on September 30, 2022, according to Myk Pam, his media bridge,is widely available on Boomplay, Audiomac and other popular streaming channels. The song, he maintained, is simply as vintage as Ollie Gee and Kcee.
Filled with that ever present zest for life and living that one always associates with the two creative acts, coupled with their vocal compatibility and finesse, providing the avid music in their efforts, giving the consumer that extra value for his money and time that we have been angling for, one cannot help but just love the creative marriage of Ollie Gee and Kcee...two Wisemen from the East...all in their own respective rights.
While we await the video, which grapevine told us, is ready and set for release, we are joyously grooving to the sweet melodies and vocal dexterity of “Mummy Mooh” that is currently captivating and rapturously emboldening and transporting us back to the sweet, good old days.
It’s Kcee and Ollie Gee in the 5-Star Musical jet... welcome on board!
