The Kwara State Governor has announced the endowment of a N10 million ‘Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed Support Fund for the Faculties of Physical Sciences and Life Sciences’ at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), located in the state capital.
Dr. Ahmed said the gesture as a show of appreciation to his alma mater, which at the weekend rounded off activities marking its 40th Anniversary/31st Convocation. “It is my hope that this fund will encourage indigent students, and expand access to quality higher education,” he said.
The Kwara State Governor in his goodwill message on the last day of the celebrations, said the 40th anniversary of the university is a time to reflect on its journey so far; celebrate its accomplishments and set fresh tasks for itself.
“As an alumnus, I am proud of the achievements of this institution. It has contributed immensely in making me the person I am today. I have no doubt that in 40 years from now, this great institution will still be better by far,” he said.
News Express reports that the week-long series of activities attracted distinguished personalities from all walks of life, including President Muhammadu Buhari and his Ghanaian counterpart, John Mahama.
