There is uncertainty in Asaba, Delta State capital as the state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal will, today, deliver judgment in two separate petitions challenging the declaration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the People Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the April 11 election.
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), O’tega Emerhor, and his Labour Party counterpart, Chief Great Ogboru had in separate petitions dragged Okowa, PDP and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the three-man tribunal, alleging breach of Electoral Act and guidelines for the elections.
The petitioners who hinged their petitions on the alleged non-use of the card reader for accreditation as directed by INEC in a press release that was admitted in evidence during trial, urged the tribunal, led by Justice Nasir Gunmi to annul the election.
