Tension as police lays siege to Federal Govt. College Ijanikin Lagos
Tension has gripped the Federal Government College Ijanikin, Lagos, following a siege by combat-ready police operatives numbering about 50.
The school’s Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) is scheduled to hold its election this morning and the policemen from Seme Division, who stormed the premises in eight Hilux vans, are said to have been invited by the School Principal, Mrs. A.O. Ibunkun-Oyewole.
“We are shocked to arrive here for the election, only to be confronted by this large number of combat-ready policemen,” a distraught PTA member who spoke with News Express said. “This is a brazen attempt by the School Principal, who wants the old to continue, to intimidate the gathering and install the candidate of his choice,” the source said.
News Express learnt that the election was fixed after the previous PTA administration was dissolved over alleged financial misappropriation to the tune of over N90 million.
