The Olu of Warri kingdom-designate, Ikenwoli Emiko, has commenced the ascension rites to the throne with the Idaniken which will last 90 days.
Speaking to Channels Television in Warri, Delta State on Friday, Mr. Yahaya Pessu, the Ojomo of Warri Kingdom, confirmed that the ceremony had started with a purification ceremony.
“The purification ceremony marks the beginning of activities that will culminate in the crowning of the new king.”
The Olu-elect succeeds Olu Atuwatse whose remains had been laid to rest at the royal cemetery in Ijala.
Prince Emiko was chosen to succeed the late Ogiame Atuwase II on Saturday, September 19.
However, Warri Traditional Council of Chiefs officially announced the demise of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwase II, on Saturday, September 19.
The influential Itsekiri King, who reigned for 28 years, was reported to have died in a private hospital on September 5 in Lagos.
