Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI), Sir Jude Ejiogu, yesterday described as baseless and false, speculations in some quarters that Governor Rochas Anayo Okorocha has tipped him and Chief Uche Nwosu as governorship candidate and running mate respectively, for the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state. He spoke through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ikenna Onuoha.
Mr. Onuoha in a statement issued in Owerri advised those peddling the rumour to leave the SGI alone to concentrate on his duties, as he has not made any secret or public statement concerning his political interest in 2019.
“As one very close to Sir Jude Ejiogu, he has always made it clearly open that his only political ambition remains Governor Rochas Okorocha and how he can succeed in his efforts to deliver dividends of democracy to the good people of the state. So anyone spreading the rumour will be in a better position to explain, but all I know is that Sir Jude Ejiogu sees this reoccurring speculation as a distraction, and should be allowed to continue with his good works as Secretary to the Government of Imo State. He is comfortable with his current position,” Mr. Onuoha stated.
He therefore appealed to the general public to disregard the said story, as it was the handiwork of mischief makers to cause political unrest in the state among politicians eyeing the number one position, stressing that nothing of such ever exists.
