The Nigerian Navy is sending a note of warning to its personnel against abusing the rights of the civilian populace within or outside their environment.

This, according to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Atiku Abdulkadir, is in a bid to maintain the existing civil-military relationship between the military and the civilians.

The FOC gave the warning in Calabar the Cross River State Capital while addressing ratings and officers after a familiarization tour of units under the Eastern Naval Command in the state.

The Nigerian Navy, according to him, would not spare any of its officers caught in illegal activities, or infringing on the rights of civilians as it is against the ethics of the Navy. He stated that all officers are expected to conduct themselves positively in order to contribute to nation building.

Expressing optimism at the conduct of the officers after inspecting a parade of honour mounted on his behalf, the newly posted Navy boss reiterated the need for other security agencies to work together towards the attainment of zero crime rate in all sectors of the economy. (Channels TV)
