A 40-year-old farmer, Nuhu Ibrahim, was on Friday brought before a Kastina Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl.
Ibrahim, who resides at Tudun-Bokaji area in Kankara Local Government Area, is being tried by Magistrate Hajiya Nafisa Bagiwa for rape.
The prosecutor, Hashimu Musa, told the court that the accused committed the offence on September 21 at 4.00p.m. at an uncompleted building.
Musa said a man, Sani Mohammed, reported the incident at Kankara Police Station.
“The accused deceived the victim by calling her that he intended to send her on an errand and dragged her into an uncompleted building where he raped her.”
The prosecutor, who said investigation was still in progress, noted that the offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation.
The magistrate, however, said the court would not take the accused’s plea as it had no jurisdiction to do so.
Bagiwa ordered the police to continue investigation into the case and directed that the case file should be forwarded to the State Ministry of Justice for advice.
The case was adjourned to October 29. (NAN)
