Bauchi State Police Command on Friday advised residents of the state against the staging of street processions in view of the current security challenges.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdulrahman Ahmed, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the command said its attention had been drawn to plans by some political groups to stage such procession.
“Information at the disposal of Bauchi State Police Command indicates that some political groups intend to stage street procession in large numbers as part of their political strategies.
“Considering the peculiarity of the security situation in the state, allowing such procession will not be in the best interest of the members of the public.
“Processions in all forms are hereby discouraged at the moment.
“Members of the public are urged to go about their lawful businesses and cooperate with law enforcement agents.” (NAN)
