Stakeholders of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State have passed a vote of no confidence on the senator representing the area at the senate, Dr. Alloysius Etok, for alleged poor performance and lack of respect to the elders of the area.
The stakeholders have also initiated the process of recall of the embattled senator who last week accused Governor Godswill Akpabio of plotting to kill him so as to take over the senatorial seat in 2015 – an allegation which the governor vehemently denied, explaining that he made Etok senator and had no reason to seek his death.
This decision to recall Etok from the National Assembly was reached yesterday after an enlarged meeting of the senatorial district convened by the Itai Afe Annang, Okuku Pius Affiong Eside and chaired by the Senatorial District Chairman, Hon. Imo Ibokette, at the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council Hall.
The stakeholders comprised past and present National Assembly members, past and present state House of Assembly members, commissioners from the area, past and present council chairmen, members of the PDP EXCO at all levels, traditional rulers, women and youths. The stakeholders accused the senator of poor performance and lack of respect for Governor Godswill Akpabio and other elders of the senatorial district.
They lamented that the embattled senator has failed to attract any constituency project to the area in the last six years. After series of speeches by the stakeholders, condemning the mal-representation of the senator, a motion for a vote of no confidence and recall of the senator from the National Assembly was moved by Hon. Iboro Ekanem from Ikono and seconded by Obong Okon Uwa from Ukanafun LGA. This was affirmed by all the stakeholders.
