PricewaterhouseCoopers, a global frontline player in tax and audit services, has concluded plans to hold the second edition of its annual media capacity development training seminar as part of efforts to boost its corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Nigeria.
The event holding for the second consecutive year is aimed at developing and further deepening the ability of the average business and economy reporter to have an indepth understanding of the technicalities in reporting the various sectors of the economy.
Tagged PwC capacity Enhancement Workshop for Journalists 2015, the event is scheduled to hold in Lagos this Friday, October 9, and it is scheduled to train a minimum of 30 different journalists from 30 media houses.
Speaking on the level of preparedness for the event, Delia Asuzu, spokesperson and image maker of PwC, stated that this year’s edition is targeted at Information and Communication Technology, ICT editors and correspondents as well as their colleagues on the Energy beat. “We believe that the training program is a give back to the Nigerian society, this is so because if you empower a journalist, you have empowered the multitude of people that reads him or her, and the nation also benefits from the accurate and precise dissemination of information,” Delia Asuzu said.
She disclosed that this year’s edition of the programme is not limited to just the print media alone but it also brings together the online news publishers and broadcast journalists from both the radio and television stations.
Also speaking, Yemie Adeoye, CEO D’Alphaxristi Ltd, consultants to the event, stated that this year’s edition is being supported by notable and credible organisations in both the oil and telecoms sector. “These organisations share the same beliefs with PwC and understand that CSR is not just an obligation but an integral and highly pertinent operational module for every responsible organisation.”
