Senator Ashafa mourns Hajj stampede victims

The Senator representing Lagos State (East) Senatorial District, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, has joined in mourning victims of the recent Hajj stampede in Mina, Saudi Arabia.

“I offer my condolences to families and friends who lost loved ones due to the stampede that occurred in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, while performing the symbolic stoning of Satan,” Senator Ashafa said in a sober tone.

He lamented the enormous loss of lives, including those of Nigerian pilgrims, urging the Saudi Arabian Government to strategise on adequate safety measures, with a view to avoiding similar incidents in the future.

“This loss of over 700 pilgrims has been the highest in the last 20 years and I implore the Saudi Arabia government to investigate and ensure the safety of pilgrims in the future.”

“May Allah accept them all as Martyrs,” Senator Ashafa added.
