Students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have launched a protest, marching round the premises and barricading the gates over the death, last night, of a First Class 300 level student.
Oluchi Anaekwe, an Accountancy student whose twin sister is said to be a 400 level student in the same institution, was electrocuted at about 7pm as she was about to enter her hostel.
“The students believe that she died as a result of negligence,” a UNILAG student told News Express. “To compound matters, the school authorities are carrying on as if nothing happened; lectures are going on and some lecturers are even conducting tests,” the student added.
Oluchi reportedly died when she was not promptly taken to UNILAG Medical Centre for attention after a power surge brought down the high tension wire that fell down and electrocuted her.
