Lalong tasks public officials on regular medical check-up

Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State on Tuesday advised public office holders in the state to embark on regular medical check-up to avoid untimely death.

Lalong gave the advice in Qua'pan town of Plateau, while speaking at the funeral of a lawmaker in the state, Godfrey Dashe.

The governor admonished all those holding public offices to ensure that they created time for regular exercise and medical checks to ascertain their health status.

“It is unfortunate that we in this part of the world only remembers the hospital when we are sick; forgetting that sickness develops in the human system gradually.

“The tasks in public offices are always heavy and very demanding, but we must create time to do thorough checks on our medical status.

“We don't have to wait until the condition becomes very critical before we seek for medical attention.

“I have started doing exercise to keep myself fit and therefore urge everyone to do same, especially those of us that are aging.”

According to him, the legislators need regular check-up more than other people because of herculean task of law-making

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before his death, late Dashe was representing Qua'pan North constituency at the State Assembly.

He was also the Deputy Majority Leader of the Assembly and the Chairman, House Committee Chairman on Culture and Tourism.

He was since buried in his country home, Kwa, in Qua'pan Local Government Area of Plateau. (NAN)
