Kano State Anti-corruption Commission today said it has confiscated over 7,000 bags of government subsidised fertilizer allegedly being sold above government give-away price.
Addressing a news conference, the Commission’s Executive Chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, said the fertilizer will soon be given to farmers in line with government-approved price.
Although the fertilizer has been confiscated in accordance with the commission’s rules and regulations, Magaji said money were also recovered from the sale of the fertilizer above government give-away price, as the suspects were since released on bail.
In a related development, the Commission also said it has found the Kano Road Traffic Agency guilty of extorting motorists beyond the approved laws set up by the State House of Assembly on traffic violation.
Recently, the Director General (DG) of the agency was accused of assaulting officers of the agency over the arrest of his son, who violated traffic rules, a situation which led to the resignation of the DG.
The State Anti-Corruption Commission further noted that in line with the state government’s war on corruption, no stone will be left unturned in bringing to justice corrupt government officials in the state. (Channels TV)
