The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Comrade Shehu Sani, on Sunday, said the 8th Senate will give President Muhammadu Buhari full support and corporation to achieve his fight against corruption and insurgency in Nigeria.
Mr Sani has said, while delivering a paper organised by the Principal Partner of Advocate Chambers, Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, with the theme ‘The role of National Assembly in the Development of Democracy In Nigeria’.
He described the National Assembly as “the engine room of democracy because they make the law that will make the system to operate properly.”
According to Senator Sani, “Nigerians have been misruled for many years due to bad governance. President Buhari has shown Commitment in the fight against Corruption which the senate will give full support to see it that corruption has been reduce to the barest level.
“Buhari has also shown commitment in the fight against insurgency which the senate will also give all what is required to see that Boko Haram is defeated and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are returned home to continue with their normal life.”
He added that the fight against corruption and insurgency is a collective responsibility that everyone must support and called on everyone to see its being achieved.
Sani said the 8th Senate will look at the Education sector, and they will increase their budgetary allocation so as to meet the standard of education globally.
He described education as the bedrock of education, adding: “If the society is educated it will reduce the social vices. It is unfortunate that due to bad system of education, the rich one will take their children to Europe, Dubai, America and Malaysia.
“We make sure from primary school, secondary and higher institution are well restructured that can stand globally in giving them qualitative education.
“All my life I have been struggling for the masses and being a senator will not stop me. All I want to say is that no matter how powerful or rich you are, you should be equally treated.”
The Senator also gave out scholarship to 30 students of the Faculty of Law – 15 to female students and 15 to male students.
He said: “All the beneficiaries of the scholarship should be from less privileged families and should cut across the country.”
Also Speaking, the Dean Faculty of Law (ABU) Professor Yunusa Bamalli, said the faculty will work with Senator Shehu Sani to see that the education sector improves in Nigeria.
The Dean, who was represented by Assistant Dean, Barrister Dalhatu Idris, assured the Senator that the scholarship would be given to less privileged students from part 1-5.
