Nigeria will today host United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon.The UN chief is scheduled to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
He will also be around to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the deadly suicide attack launched by Boko Haram terrorists on the United Nations building in the Nigerian capital.
Aside President Buhari, Ban Ki-moon is expected to meet with other top government officials and leaders of business in the country.
U.N. spokeswoman Eri Kaneko says Ki-moon is expected to discuss development, climate change, human rights, and countering violent extremism while in Nigeria.
He will also mark the anniversary of the 2011 suicide car bombing at the U.N. headquarters in Abuja, which killed 21 people.
The UN Secretary-General then travels to Paris to discuss preparations for a major climate change conference to be held there in December. He will also meet with French President Francois Hollande.
