TETFund urges Governor Ishaku to focus on basic education

Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has advised Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba to invest money saved from TETFund’s intervention on basic education.

Bogoro, who gave the advice when Ishaku paid him a courtesy visit on Friday in Abuja, said Taraba was one of the most active states in terms of TETFund intervention projects.

According to him, TETFund has not neglected any of the tertiary institutions in Taraba.

“We will be happy that courtesy of our intervention in tertiary education, you will be able to save money for basic education - primary and secondary.

“There is larger number of beneficiaries at that level, if you succeed in doing this, we would have seen ourselves as veritable partner in the rescue train in Taraba.”

Earlier, Ishaku thanked TETFund for its numerous interventions in tertiary institutions in Taraba as there were lots of TETFund projects in Taraba.

He said that the state specifically needed more intervention in its College of Education as it needed more teachers.

“We need more trained teachers and we are here to solicit TETFund’s intervention in that regards.

“I will want TETFund to concentrate more on teacher education because we lack teachers and we are backward educationally.

“So, if TETFund can do more on our college of education, it will give us more qualitative teachers.”

He said he was committed to rescuing the state from being an educationally backward state. (NAN)
