A 22-year-old student, Mubarak Adamu, has been remanded in prison for alleged trespass and stealing of a handset.
Adamu was charged for criminal trespass and theft, an offence which contravenes sections 212 and 133 of Kano State Shari'a penal code.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) read by the prosecutor, Ahmed Magawata, before the court, one Malam Shehu Hassan of Yankaba Quarters reported the case to Bompai police Division on Aug. 16.
The report added that on the same date, Adamu of the same address trespassed into Hassan's house and stole an Itel handset valued N4,000.
The accused pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.
The presiding officer, Khadi Abubakar Ayagi, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison.
Ayagi adjourned the case to Sept. 1, for mention. (NAN)
