World Music Day holds Monday, to feature top Nigerian acts

The second edition of the World Music Day has been scheduled for Monday, June 21, 2021.
A press statement issued earlier today (Friday) and signed by president of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Pretty Okafor and made available to News Express said the event which will be a webinar, is in conjunction with the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN) as well as Banwo and Ighodalo.
The webinar will hold by 12pm to 2pm.
According to the statement, the webinar tilted "COLLECTIVE MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION IN A DIGITAL AGE " will feature keynote speakers like the Director General of The Nigeria Copyright Commission (NCC), John Assien, CEO of MCSN, Mr Mayo Ayilaran, Mr Femi Olubanwo, partner at Banwo and Ighodalo.
The statement stated that music industry maestro, Efe Omoreigbe will also deliver a speech, while Mr Chris Ubosi, CEO of Beat Fm, Naija FM, Classic Fm, Lagos Talk FM will join Nigeazie boss, Olufemi Aderibigbe (Kwame), on panel discussion with PMAN Vice President Zaaky Azzay and other key Music industry players including Asha Gangali, Mathew Ohio and Samklef.
The director of Nigerian Copyright Academy, Mr. Michael Akpan, will also be on the panel.
According to the statement, a major highlight of last year's edition of World Music Day Webinar, was the unveiling of MCSN's breakthrough technology for effective rights management, "GOCREATE APP" which was subsequently deployed and currently has registered over seven thousand (7000) active users since it's deployment , an unprecedented achievement in the history of CMO in Nigeria.
MCSN/GOCREATE chief technology officer, Onome Ojigbo will present the first set of data report extracted from the monitoring of music airplay on radio stations across Nigeria.
The data analytics will give insight into the advantages and importance of Data Intelligence in Rights Management.
PMAN president, Pretty Okafor informed News Express that it was imperative for major stakeholders to work closely with MCSN which is the government licensed CMO for Music Rights in Nigeria to ensure smooth transition into a digital Ecosystem, also noting that the partnership with Banwo and Ighodalo will allow practitioners to have more legal insight into world best practices when it comes to collective management organizations.
MCSN chairman, Orits Williki, shall welcome participants to the Webinar while broadcast personality, Olisa Adibua, will anchor the proceedings.
