Praise, criticism trail Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s choice as commissioners, special advisers

The names of nominees submitted by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, to the State House of Assembly on Tuesday as commissioners and special advisers, have been described as “balanced and fair,” while others just see the nominees as “tested seasoned democrats.”

A political analyst in Uyo, Mr. Freeman Iko, told journalist in Uyo on Friday that the nominations were “all embracing” that no section of the state was left out in the composition of the new proposed executive council, adding, “I hope the state assembly will give the nominees accelerated screening and prompt confirmation” to enhance the full take-off of the new administration.

A journalist and Editor-in-Chief of a local tabloid in Uyo, Mr. Franklin Isong, also commended the governor for the “much expected and comprehensive list of the nominees”, called on the state house of assembly’s relevant committee to expedite action on the approval of the nominees and urged the multiple media houses in the state to give the House “the necessary support and truth in their reportage” to enable the assembly to succeed in its deliberations.

News Express recalls that names of 22 nominees, comprising 20 commissioners and two special advisers, were on Tuesday forwarded to the state house of Assembly by Governor Emmanuel, for screening and necessary confirmation, to constitute the new state executive council.
