The police will henceforth provide adequate security for medical and dental practitioners against any forms of threat or intimidation in the course of performing their legal duties.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase, gave the assurance to the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) yesterday during the group’s courtesy visit to the office of the IGP at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The group was led by its President, Sir Dr. Kayode Obembe.

“Security arrangement will equally be put in place to ensure the safety of their staff on hospital ambulances emergency services. Also, there would be commensurate remuneration for the Police doctors,” Arase said.

The NMA president had requested for enhanced security for medical practitioners following increasing cases of kidnap of members across the country. He expressed confidence in the leadership ability of the IGP.
