I’ll deploy latest technology to fight crime in Abia —Governor Ikpeazu

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has assured that his administration would deploy the latest technology in fighting crime in the state.

The governor who hosted members of Abia State House of Assembly to a maiden meeting in his office, said he was aware that insecurity, especially kidnapping, was rearing its ugly head again in the state, promised that government would buy modern technological equipment that would assist security agencies and their personnel to track down hoodlums, wherever their hideout may be.

Ikpeazu told the lawmakers that he will liaise with them to fashion out modalities for the establishment of a security trust fund.

The 5th Abia House of Assembly had passed the law for the establishment of the trust fund when Abia was in the throes of kidnapping.

The Governor assured the state legislators of his readiness to work with them and called on them to imbibe the spirit of brotherliness and friendship to enable them to make positive contributions in the task of moving Abia higher.

He pointed out that the legislature was very vital to actualising his administration’s programmes and policies which border mainly on delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

He charged the legislators to place the interest of the state first by ensuring the House of Assembly was a stable and supportive, promising to do his best in providing a conducive environment for the legislators to excel in their duties and constituencies.

Earlier in his remark, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike, said their visit was to formally present the 6thHouse to the Governor after their inauguration and to assure the Governor of their support in realising his vision for Abians.

He told the governor that the House has been properly constituted and ready for work, as well as to collaborate with him.

Azubuike stated that they were ready to partner the executive and other arms of government.
