Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, has finally given a hint about the person to succeed him when he completes his second term in March next year.
Obi, who had for long maintained a studied silence on the issue, finally opened up Wednesday by stipulating the age bracket of his preferred successor. The man or woman has to be aged not more than 50 years, the governor, who is 51, said in the state capital Awka, while flagging off work on four major roads.
He cautioned Anambra people against being deceived by selfish politicians and advised them to vote in as his successor, someone who is not above 50 years and who would still have the energy and stamina to run around for the good of the state. “I always pray to God to give the state somebody better than I am,” Obi said.
The governor has yet to anoint any aspirant but would like his successor to come from Anambra North, which has not produced a governor whereas the southern and central senatorial zones have had their fair share of the office.
