Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, on Thursday, disclosed that new residences being built for presiding officers of the National Assembly will cost N27.1 billion.
The minister, who made the disclosure during his 2015 FCT national budget presentation to the House Committee on FCT, chaired by Honourable Emmanuel Jime, added that presently, the project had reached 58 per cent level.
The minister, however, added that a balance of N15.3 billion would be required to complete the project, saying the projects specifically had two components which entailed the provision of residences for presiding officers of the National Assembly, which comprised the main building, ADC’s House, Guest House, Staff quarters, gate House, Banquet Hall, Chapel, Mosque and the Power House.
He further disclosed that N1.5 billion was appropriated for the project in 2014, while N164.2 million was actually released, adding that N11.8 billion had been paid till date.
According to him, N2 billion had been proposed in 2015 for the project.
