National Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Professor Sam Ibodje, has assured President Goodluck Jonathan, the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa and other national and state assembly candidates that they will win the coming elections in the community.

Ibodje, a Professor of Political Science and the Adjerese of Agbarha-Otor, gave the assurance at the weekend when the Contact Committee of the State PDP Campaign Organisation paid a courtesy visit to his country home.

He told the committee, led by Capt. (Dr) Pius Sinebe, that he would do everything possible to properly galvanise the people to vote for the party’s candidates in all the elections, saying the party has no cause to worry.

Speaking on the position of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) to vote for only an Urhobo candidate, Ibodje said the problem with the UPU position was inability to effectively manage the Urhobo numerical strength, saying it will be impossible to realise given the fact that the UPU is now factionalised.

“The problem is proper and effective management of Urhobo numerical strength. The truth is that I have consistently advocated that we can only be either the king or the kingmaker. Right now we should play our card in a way that, as kingmakers, we will command the respect of all and sundry. From what I can see, the PDP has no problems,” he assured.

Earlier, leader of the delegation, Capt. Sinebe had told him that his committee considers him as a very important political and traditional figure and leader in Agbarha-Otor clan, and that it was imperative that the committee acknowledges the same by visiting him to express its profound appreciation for the good work he was doing on behalf of the party.

Other members of the delegation include Chief Dennis Etaloku, Chief M.C. Uyana (Rtd Comm of Police), Senator Francis Nwajei, Hon. John Edijala and Mr Augustine Avwode.
