Zaria stands still as Yero holds final rally for April 11 election

The ancient city of Zaria Saturday stood still as a mammoth crowd turned up to receive the campaign train of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero. It was Yero’s final rally ahead of the April 11 Governorship and State Assembly polls.

Thousands of supporters lined the streets of the city to welcome Yero, who hails from Zaria, and his entourage. The famous traditional horse riding was also part of the colourful reception ceremony accorded Yero by the people of Zaria during the campaign tour.

Our correspondent reports that the distance of less than 5km turned into a journey of some sort, as Yero’s team had to move at a snail’s pace due to the huge crowd.

“Yero is indeed at home,” some commuters held up in traffic grid told newsmen.
