Anaocha leaders adopt Umeh for senate

Leaders of thought in Anaocha local government area of Anambra State have unanimously adopted the National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, as their choice of senatorial candidate for Anambra Central in the forthcoming March 28 general elections.

Speaking at a meeting, convened under the aegis of Nzuko Odinma Anaocha at Agulu, the group said Umeh stood out amongst other candidates vying for the position, adding his achievements in the past and recent speak volumes.

They credentials to speak for the zone in particular and Igbo race in general if elected senator.

With stakeholders drawn from different walks of life at the meeting, former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Pita Ejiofor, moved the motion for the adoption of Umeh as the sole candidate for the zone, and it was unanimously agreed upon.

While addressing the members of Nzuko Anaocha, Chairman of the group, Mr. Tony Akpulu, likened Umeh’s mission to the senate to a soldier on a special duty, saying that it is not every soldier that possess the strength to be drafted to serious wars.

He described Umeh as a dogged fighter and one who would stick out his neck for the cause of not just the Central Senatorial zone but the entire Ndigbo.

“In Umeh, we have a fighter and a warrior,” he said.

Akpulu promised that the group would do everything humanly possible to ensure victory at the polls for Umeh at the polls.

It would be recalled that Anaocha local government area, made up of 10 towns and 19 political wards, is the zone of both the former governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi and the main opponent of Umeh, Hon. Uche Ekwunife.
