A Nigerian Army General has recounted how the juju his father gave him for his protection failed him at the war front.
Major-General Abel Obi Umahi was among Nigerian soldiers who helped to restore peace in Liberia as part of the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG).
Speaking Sunday during a special thanksgiving programme to mark his successful tenure as Commander of the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benin in Edo State, South-South Nigeria, Umahi disclosed that during the ECOMOG mission, a bullet hit and injured his left hand side where the juju was placed.
The army top shot who is now very religious and served as a Zonal Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church in Benin until lately, contrasted this with what happened after he stopped trusting in juju.
Hear him: “In 1991, I went back to Liberia but by then I had burnt those juju. The battle was fierce this time but I was delivered by God. I am a living witness of God’s blessing.”
The church service was graced by eminent personalities who came to rejoice with Umahi, who was recently promoted to the rank of Major-General, among them Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and his Edo State counterpart Adams Oshiomhole, represented by his deputy, Dr. Pius Odubu.
