The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammad Buhari (rtd.), on Wednesday pledged to tackle insurgency and corruption, if elected president in the Feb. 14 presidential election.
Buhari gave the commitment during the party’s presidential rally in Jalingo, capital of Taraba State.
“Nigeria has the capacity to end terrorism and corruption if appropriate measures are put in place. I urge you to give me the mandate and I will use my experience to end the ugly incidents,” he said.
Buhari said that 60 per cent of Nigerian youths were unemployed, and that the situation had made them prone to violence.
The APC flag bearer also promised to complete the Mambilla Hydroelectric Dam project to generate electricity and boost agriculture through irrigation.
Also addressing the rally, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar urged the people of the state to vote massively for Buhari to ensure peace and development in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sen. Aisha Alhassan, the party’s governorship candidate in the state, was presented the flag of the party, resting speculations that she had substituted with another female candidate.(NAN)
