Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has assured the people of the stare of his resolve to build on the legacy of Governor Sullivan Chime if elected his successor on February 28.
He made declaration yesterday during the flag-off of Enugu PDP’s campaign for the 2015 general elections at Ikem, headquarters of Isi Uzo Local Government Area.
Hon. Ugwuanyi explained that he has adopted the continuity and consolidation as the theme of his manifesto, noting that “it will be wrong to deviate from the tempo of development already set by the Chime administration.”
While thanking Chime and Enugu PDP faithful for finding him worthy to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming ballot, Ugwuanyi said that the fact that the state has witnessed uncommon transformation and massive infrastructural development under the out-going governor has made his own campaign a lot much easier.
“Our party,” he said, “has performed well in Enugu State. That is why it’s easier for us to convince the people that we will do even much more.
“It is easier for us to come back for more support. We are grateful to the governor because of the tremendous goodwill he has brought to the state. The best we can do is to continue from where he will stop. I can assure you that we will have seamless continuity.”
Ugwuanyi presented his running mate, Hon. (Mrs.) Cecilia Ezeilo, urging the people to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards to enable them vote for all the candidates of the party.
Governor Chime had earlier in his speech thanked the people of state for their overwhelming support for his administration, adding that he was convinced that Ugwuanyi will sustain the tempo of development in the state.
He expressed optimism that Ugwuanyi will emerge victorious at the polls given his popularity and acceptability across the state.
The rally attracted a mammoth crowd and was attended by other party topnotchers, including the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
