Obanikoro accuses APC of plot to rig elections

The immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has accused the main opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) of planning to rig the forthcoming general elections in the country.

Obanikoro, who was speaking in Lagos at the launching of Independent Campaign Group said Nigerians must not allow it to happen.

He said President Goodluck Jonathan deserved a second term, saying not giving him a second term ticket will be an injustice.

According to him, Former Presidents Shehu Shagari and Olusegun Obasanjo were given second term in office, saying President Jonathan deserved a second term because, according to him, “what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.”

Listing the achievements of Jonathan, Obanikoro said, “We have a President under whom for the first time now we have a running railway. People can move from Lagos to the North, from Port Harcourt to the East, from East to the North for the first time in a long time. Yet we have not done anything.

“Mr. President has reduced drastically our dependant on rice importation, our import bill has gone down by 40 per cent, yet the president has not done anything.

With the falling price of oil and the import bill way up there imagines where we would have been as a nation. In Lagos State, they have killed public schools at all levels. The President has created 12 universities”, Obanikoro said.
