Wrecked car after Mondays accident
Four persons have died this week in auto cashes in Anambra State. On Sunday, a Mack Trailer conveying a container with registration number XS 254 ENU, driven by one Amauche Chinedu of Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of Abia State on Sunday lost control of its break system and knocked down two tricycles.
The accident which took the lives of three people happened at about 9:20am on Sunday along Mercedes Avenue by Omor Street, Mgbuka, Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The two tricycle with registration numbers AAH 774 UW and AWK 191 QN driven by Sunday Agbafor aged 35 years, an indigene of Onuofia Igboeze, Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State and Adindu Uchenna aged 39 years of Ugwunagbo LGA of Abia State fell into a deep erosiongully following the impact of the trailer
It was gathered that the Trailer with the container it was carrying also fell into the gully.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, the tricyclists together with the conductor of the truck who was simply identified as Chika died on the spot.
According to him, “Police patrol team led by DPO, Ogidi Division CSP Mark Ijarafu visited the scene, corpses removed and deposited at Iyienu Hospital Morgue Ogidi and cleared obstruction to enable free flow of traffic in the Area.”
Mohammed said that the truck driver also sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at the Hospital.
He said that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John B. Abang, has commiserated with the bereaved families and also ordered for a discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
On Monday, one person lost his life following a multiple auto crash involving a tanker, a tipper and an SUV at Abba junction, near the state capital, Awka, Anambra State.
It was gathered that the crash happened at about 9:40 am when the tanker driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle as a result of break system failure and rammed into a Honda CRV SUV vehicle, causing the death of its driver.
Confirming the incident, the state Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) command, Mr. Edwin Okadigbo, said that men of the command worked have cordoned off the area.
He said that the identity of the victim had not been ascertained as at press time.
“On January 20 at about 9:40am, along Abba Enugwu Agidi road in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State, a multiple accident occurred involving a Tipper with registration number AWK 922 XJ , CRV JEEP GCE 309 FK and a tanker Reg. No. FKJ789 XD.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the tanker which was heading towards Onitsha from Awka lost control and ran into the Honda CRV from Onitsha axis heading towards Awka. In the Process a trailer loaded with Diesel on seeing the accident diverted into the nearby bush to avoid causing more havoc on incoming vehicles.
“One person was confirmed dead and has been deposited at the morgue while others seriously injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
“The Commandant of NSCDC David Bille commiserates with the bereaved family and has ordered for a discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident,” Okadigbo stated.
Also on ground to clear obstruction for free flow of traffic in the area were personnel of NSCDC from Dunukofia Division and Anti Vandal Unit.
