The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, has slammed a former governor of the state, Chief Alao-Akala, who is also the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, over an alleged case of assault carried out against some members of the APC at Bodija area of Ibadan.
In a statement issued by its director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, APC accused Alao-Akala of having a prepared script, including inducement of voters as part of his plans to win the 2015 governorship polls.
He said: “At around 7pm on Tuesday, three members of the APC namely, Muhideen Adeleke, Abdullahi Alao and Sali Ayoade were attacked by a group of about 35 thugs armed with dangerous weapons, on Awosika Street at Bodija area of Ibadan, where these innocent victims had gone to paste some posters of Governor Abiola Ajimobi and Hon Abiodun Awoleye, who is the candidate of the APC for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
“Available facts indicate that the attackers acted on the order of Alao-Akala whose residence is on that same Awosika Street, because about five thugs who pounced on the APC members had to call for reinforcement as a crowd of miscreants harboured by the former governor emerged from his house.
To lend more credence to our claims, Alao-Akala had earlier in the day stopped his motorcade in front of the APC secretariat at Yemetu while on his way to a venue of his campaign and this afforded the street urchins in his entourage; an opportunity to rain words of insults, threats and abuses on the occupants of the building.
“Oyo State has rediscovered peace and tranquility made possible by the APC administration. They would never be forced to surrender the feat to the agents of darkness who parade themselves as politicians,” APC said.
