A group of unrepentant armed bandits have allegedly
dislodged officers of the Nigeria Customs Service NCS, at a checking point in
Katsina.
A competent source disclosed that, the armed bandits chased
away the customs officers from Solar check point few kilometers from Jibia town
to commit their nefarious crime of aiding smugglers.
According to the source, the armed bandits even goes to the
extent of serving as escorts to the smugglers to ferrying banned item into the
state capital.
The source also revealed that, the customs officers
stationed at the check point on sighting the dreaded bandits flee into the bush
to escape been killed.
The bandits had established a point where they auctioned
seized bags of rice by the customs officers to the members of the public at a
token price of five thousand naira.
The fearless bandits usually after making big catch from the
sales of the seized commodities organize parties for themselves before
returning to their hideouts.
