Governor Bala James Ngilari of Adamawa State has finally surrendered to the will of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and endorsed the candidature of Malam Nuhu Ribadu pledging his government’s support to it.
Ngilari had resisted his being zoned out of the governorship race but later changed his stand, as he demonstrated yesterday by endorsing the former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman at the Government House, Yola. He promised to rally round Ribadu’s candidature in order to ensure the victory of PDP during the February 2015 general elections.
Ngilari said he received the candidature of Ribadu as a divine providence and in good faith, adding that with a well entrenched person like him, it will not be difficult for the party to retain its seat come 2015 general election in the state.
“As a party member, one has to take anything that comes in good faith and therefore we are going to work together to ensure victory in the forthcoming election,” the governor said.
He expressed confidence that the stakeholders of the party will not afford the party to lose the Government House.
Speaking earlier, Ribadu promised to carry all aggrieved members of the party along for the success of the party in 2015.
He said: “As for me, all PDP aspirants and other members of the party are equal. People know me as a hard working person and I will use my wealth of experience to transform the state if elected in 2015. I am therefore calling on the party members to forget the past for the success of the party.”
The former anti-corruption czar commended the governor for his faith in the party, adding that as the leader of the party in the state he has confidence that Ngillari will lead the campaign train of the party to success.
