A 5-year-old boy was on Sunday kidnapped by a yet-to-be-identified person at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral Church Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the missing boy was in church with two of his siblings to attend the 9:00am mass.
Information has it that while the three of them were playing in the church field, an unknown man called the eldest of the children to help him buy three sachets of pure water from a shop opposite the church but before he came back from the errand, the man had disappeared with his 5-year-old younger brother, Chimaobim Kosi Ayinkor, to an unknown destination.
Efforts made by his parents to locate the missing boy proved abortive.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, said: “On December 15, 2019 at about 2pm, one Mr and Mrs Ayinkor Umego both of Okpo Village Ekwulobia reported at Aguata Police Station that on the same day at about 9am, the wife prepared their three children for Church Service at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral Church Ekwulobia.
“However, while the children were playing in the field within the church premises, a man whose identity is yet unknown called the eldest child and sent him to go and buy three serchet water opposite the church, and before he came back from the errand, the man had disappeared with his younger brother one Chimaobim Kosi Ayinkor ‘m’ aged 5 years to an unknown destination and all efforts made to locate him by the parents proved abortive.
“Following the report, Police circulated a wireless massage to various divisions/formations through the control room while effort is being intensified to find the missing child who is dark in complexion, about 3 feet tall and without a tribal mark.”
The Command called on the public to caution their children about strangers even enjoining them to avail police with any useful information about the child’s whereabouts, to report at the nearest Police Station or reach security official through emergency number 0703 919 4332.
