There is nothing Christian about the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), instead politicians are using religion to exploit peoples of Southern Kaduna, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Arc. Bala Barnabas Bantex, said yesterday.
According to Bantex, Christianity is against injustice, killings and discrimination on ethnic and religious lines, hence he challenged PDP to stick to issue-based campaign and not branding PDP with Christianity.
Addressing a cross section of APC candidates and party leaders of Southern Kaduna Senatorial Zone in Kafanchan, Bantex said the time to revive principled politics experienced in pre-independence and first republic era is inevitable in view of challenges of under-development.
The two-time local government chairman and House of Representatives member said: “There is nothing Christianity in PDP; it is just fiction and imagination of some people who are holding Southern Kaduna people bondage in consolidating their outdated agenda of exploiting our people.
“Christianity doesn’t tolerate injustice and killings, Christianity is about salvation and good of human race towards a better unending life in the hereafter and so, no one should blindfold us from seen and understanding reality of our predicament as a people.”
The chairman, who said the destiny of Southern Kaduna people is in their hands, added: “Our destiny and future are in our hands, where is the development in Southern Kaduna? Where is the security? Where are the roads and hospitals? Where are the infrastructures to make life worthy for our people? Who are responsible for protecting our interests and are they doing it?
“We should not allow some people to continue to hold us hostage and leave us in perpetual darkness and confusion. By our resolution in championing change, we have taken a stand and with God on our side we will cleanse Southern Kaduna of failed leadership and irresponsible politicking.”
