No plan to leave PDP despite loss of governorship ticket —Maku

Immediate past Minister of Information and the defeated Nasarawa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Mr Labaran Maku, on Wednesday, denied insinuation that he would leave the party, saying there was no such move, but he would rather work assiduously for the success of the party in 2015.

He told Nigerian Tribune on phone in Lafia, the state capital, through his campaign secretary, Mr Kasimu Bakyano, that he remained a bonafide member of the PDP and at no time had he ever contemplated leaving the party.

According to him, “It is just an imagination of some people; he is a bona fide member of the PDP and he is going nowhere.

“Maku will work for the success of the party right from the House of Assembly to the presidential elections in the country.”

Mr Bakyano said because Maku wrote a letter of complaint to the party in the state over the concluded gubernatorial primaries in the state did not mean he had left the party.

“Grievances are different from defection; because he forwarded a letter of complaint over the conduct of the primaries does not mean he has left the party,” he explained.

It will be recalled that Maku came second in the state PDP gubernatorial primaries with 160 votes, while Yusuf Agabi polled 214 votes to emerge winner, defeating Maku and six others, including the former Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma, who scored 129 votes.
