2 days to 2013 South Africa Cup of Nations: Keshi gets tips on how to conquer

Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi has been offered tips on how to excel with the team at the 29th Africa Cup of Nations. The tips, from 1996 African Cup of Nations winner and former Bafana Bafana midfielder Eric Tinkler, came just as the Eagles landed in South Africa yesterday, ready for action at the tournament starting Saturday.

“One thing about the Nigerians is that they are not spoilt for choice and have players all over the world,” said Tinkler, the current the current Orlando Pirates assistant coach, in an interview with MTTN Football.

“In attack it is a headache for the coach because there are so many players to choose from. So it is very important that the coach studies the opponents well and knows who to pick on the day,” he added.

The Super Eagles and the technical crew had departed their training camp in Faro, Portugal, on Tuesday evening, arriving Johannesburg yesterday and then connecting a flight to Nelspruit, venue of their Group C matches which open on January 21 against Burkina Faso.

The team arrived to a warm reception from the advance party of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) led by NFF Board member and chairman of the media committee, Emeka Inyama.

The delegation had inspected the hotel accommodation reserved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for Super Eagles and officials as well as fine-tuned logistical arrangements t make the team comfortable during the tournament ending February 10.
