The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 27,624 personnel across the four paramilitary services.
The board also announced the conclusion of 228 pending disciplinary cases across the four agencies.
The Secretary to CDCFIB, retired Maj.-Gen. Abdulmalik Jubril, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the agencies are the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Fire Service (FFS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Jubril said the promotions were part of efforts to address stagnation, improve personnel welfare and boost morale in the paramilitary services.
Giving a breakdown of the promotion exercise, he said that NSCDC recorded the highest number of promoted personnel with 17,343.
A further breakdown revealed that NCoS accounted for 4,601 promoted personnel, NIS had 4,097, while FFS recorded 1,583 promotions.
He said the decisions were aimed at strengthening discipline, improving service delivery and ensuring personnel discharged their responsibilities effectively.
Jubril described the exercise as unprecedented, saying it reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to ending promotion delays and improving the welfare of paramilitary personnel.
He added that the board had approved various disciplinary measures against personnel found to have committed different offences.
The board secretary opined that the decisions were aimed at strengthening discipline, improving service delivery and ensuring personnel discharged their responsibilities effectively.
He said the board also validated a healthcare policy framework aimed at ensuring the fitness and wellness of officers and men across the four services.
“We considered this as part of the welfare to boost personnel’s morale for effective service discharge of duties,” Jubril said. (NAN)
