Kaduna State Chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Gaiya Haruna, has dismissed the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “contraband product” which does not exist in the state.
He was responding to the threat of former Minister of Federal Capital Territory and All Progressive Congress governorship candidate, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, to dislodge the party and Governor Mukhtar Yero during next year’s ballot.
Speaking while addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Kaduna, Haruna declared that El-Rufai is never a threat to the party in the 2015 election.
He said that the PDP would continue to rule till “thy Kingdom come” and as far as democracy exists.
The Kaduna PDP Chairman, who was accompanied by other members of party’s executive members, accused APC of not having a manifesto of it own, but of duplicating the PDP’s document.
Speaking on last weekend’s governorship primaries won by Governor Yero, Alhaji Haruna described them as transparent, free and fair.
According to him, “There was nothing like imposition of candidates. Everybody bought form to aspire for positions of their choice.
“None of the applicants ever approached the state secretariat to lodge complaints regarding the process that saw Yero and other aspirants emerging victorious at the end of the day.
“The game of politics is the game of who is strong enough. It is now left for the delegates, you could have money, and be good you could not even have money and you can be good what has happened first is the determination of the leadership of the party not to involve themselves in money siphoning from aspirants, you allow delegates to go and do their duty.”
The party chief appealed to media to report good things about Nigeria. “I want to appeal to you media to please make Nigeria grow by a way of presenting it in positive terms to the outside world, but if it refuses to grow, then Nigerian journalists has done that,” he said.
