Hopes of former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari picking the presidential flag of the mega opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), have shot to the skies following the last-minute withdrawal of two other aspirants, who have thrown their weight behind him.
The aspirants in question are Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano and Rochas Okorocha of Imo.
Information reaching News Express from the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, where the APC presidential primary election is currently in progress, has it that Kwankwaso and Okorocha have pledged their support for Buhari, thus dimming the hopes of his challenger, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Ten other APC governors are also reported to have thrown their weight behind Buhari.
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party is equally holding its presidential primary election (at the Eagle Square Abuja) to ratify President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate for the 2015 ballot.
