All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election was dramatic in Ogun State where Governor Ibikunle Amosun emerged unopposed as the candidate of the party, but his deputy, Prince Segun Adesegun, decamped to the rival Social Democratic Party (SDP).
At the primaries held at MKO Abiola Stadium, Amosun polled 3,861 votes, while Adesegun also emerged the candidate of SDP at the primaries held few kilometres away from MKO Stadium.
The governor and his deputy were elected on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011.
There was no love lost between them lately, especially after the former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, parted way with Amosun following some irreconcialiable differences.
Efforts by the party leadership at national level to mend the fence met a brick wall in the two elements desperate to assert each others' influence in the state chapter of the party.
