Senator Abdulkadir Jajere has confirmed the news making the rounds in the past few days that some lawmakers are putting together plans to impeach President Goodluck Jonathan. The news had been previously dismissed by several political watchers, who said it didn’t make sense for any such move since Jonathan’s tenure is already winding up.
A Channels TV report quotes Jajere as saying during an interview with journalists that the lawmakers would raise the motion to impeach President Jonathan when the Senate resumes on December 16.
The report also quotes him as disclosing that the lawmakers intend to impeach President Jonathan for breaching the constitution by spending more than the amount appropriated for fuel subsidy and also his handling of the security crises in the country.
