The Adamawa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election for candidates of the State House of Assembly has ended in a stalemate. This followed the rejection of the list of delegates sent to the state by the national secretariat of the party by Governor Bala James Ngilari and majority of the stakeholders of the party in the state.
Ngilari told the electoral committee that the list had been doctored and therefore completely unknown to the party in the state. He declared that it was in sharp contrast with the authentic list agreed to by all stakeholders of the party in the state.
“When Senator Bala Adamu came all stakeholders agreed that in view of the security challenges the list used for the primary that produced (former Ag. Governor) Fintri should be used, unless where such delegates have decamped or are dead. Everyone signed on. That is the list. And nobody can force anyone on us,” the aggrieved governor said.
Ngilari was quoted as having told the committee that the law court had already ruled in favour of the November 1 list which was acceptable to Adamawa PDP stakeholders.
News Express was informed that the list of the delegates was tampered with in 15 out of the 21 local government areas of the state. Sources said that following the doctoring of the list by the PDP national secretariat, it was difficult to get the real delegates to participate in the primary as aspirants protested against the list, which they claimed was deliberately compiled to favour the aspiration of a governorship aspirant that is being promoted and forced on Adamawa people by the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Muázu, and the Principal Private Secretary to the President, Alhaji Hassan Tukur.
